A joint Liverpool city region and Greater Manchester delegation will attend a major event in Leeds in May to meet with hundreds of potential investors. Tony McDonough reports
Liverpool city region and Greater Manchester are sending a joint delegation to a new major conference and exhibition in Leeds in May to meet with potential inward investors.
Liverpool Place Partnership (LPP), which will also send a delegation to the MIPIM international property expo at Cannes on the French Riviera in March, will be attending the first inaugural The UK’s Real Estate Investment and Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF).
It will take place from May 17 to 19 in Leeds. Among the keynote speakers, and leading the Merseyside delegation, will be Liverpool City Region Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram as well as his greater Manchester counterpart Andy Burnham.
UKREiiF will bring together thousands of public sector representatives and international investors and developers under one roof. Other speakers include Lord Grimstone, Minister for Investment at the Department for International Trade and Baroness Vere, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Transport.
Stephen Cowperthwaite, chair of the LPP, said: “Levelling up is a big discussion point at the moment. Liverpool and Manchester joining up at UKREiiF provides the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the collective strength in these two great city regions and what we can achieve by working together collaboratively.
“There are challenges that towns and cities across the UK are facing, not least issues relating to the ESG agenda. Events such as UKREiiF are essential for bringing the public and private sectors together to find sustainable solutions and appropriate investment to ensure that we are creating better places for our communities.”

Taking place at Royal Armouries Leeds & Leeds Dock, UKREiiF will be one of the only such events to take place outside London, highlighting the investment opportunities that are available right across the UK.
