Sutton Kersh is reporting sales of £8.4m from its latest Liverpool property auction – higher than the £7.2m it saw in July.

Hundreds of bidders from both the city region, and across the UK, resisted for the online event. Kersh offered 96 lots at the event and achieved sales of more than 85%. Residential properties in need of refurbishment proved popular.

First property to go under the hammer was a two-bedroom end terrace house in Litherland. The property is in need of modernisation and full refurbishment. It had a guide price of £70,000 and sold for £17,000 above that.

A “star performer” at the auction, according to Sutton Kersh, was Lot 4. Bank Street Chapel is a “stunning” Church in Bolton. This had a guide price of £250,000 but, after intense bidding, sold for £375,000.

Another popular lot was a three-bedroom mid-terrace property in Bootle. It also needed refurbishment and was listed with a guide price of £65,000. The house sold for £100,000.

Associate director of Sutton Kersh Auctions, Cathy Holt, said: “We were confident in our ability to sell more than 75% of the 96 lots offered but to achieve over 85% sales in these uncertain times was a true testament to our team.

“There clearly is still a demand for investment and residential properties and the lots that saw bidding wars were predominantly vacant residential ones.”

Properties in the Litherland area proved particularly popular. They generated interest both pre-auction and on the day. Lot 33 was another vacant three-bedroom mid-terrace which sold for £84,000, £34,000 above the guide price.

Lot 38 generated a “fierce” bidding war. This property is a two-storey end terrace converted to provide two, two-bedroom self-contained flats. It has a potential income of £10,800 a year. It had a guide price of £75,000 and sold for £125,000.

The next auction will be taking place on October 20.
