Motorsport simulator racing centre Century Sim Racing opened in Warrington in 2019 – now it is relocating to the leveltap venue in Liverpool city centre. Tony McDonough reports

Liverpool’s new esports venue leveltap is to be home to a motorsport simulator racing centre.

Century Sim Racing opened in Warrington in 2019. It offers customers the opportunity to  test their driving skills on some of the world’s most iconic motorsport tracks. People can cruise around Silverstone in a BMW M3 or race around Monaco in a Ferrari Formula 1 car.

Now Century Sim is to relocate to Liverpool city centre. It will set up shop in leveltap, a specialist esports and gaming venue that opened in Hanover Street in Liverpool ONE in the summer. Leveltap is the brainchild of entrepreneurs Adam Rydings and Callum Wilson.

This new Century Sim attraction will offer a 180-degree view of the track using three panoramic screens surrounding each of the eight simulators.

Customers can also become part of a racing community with an interactive best lap time leaderboard to keep track of their progress each time they visit.

James Whitehouse and Chris Stapleton are the founders of Century Sim. They met at TeamSport Go Karting in Liverpool.

James said: “The chance came up to partner with leveltap and bring our state-of-the art technology to a bigger audience. It is an awesome and cool place which is designed specifically for competitive socialising and fans of gaming and esports.

“We have invested a lot of time and money into making Century Sim an authentic racing experience that truly is like nothing else. This is as close to the real thing as it gets and even world famous professional drivers use it to improve their technique.”

James and Chris also offer coaching to boost sim racing performance. James added: “All the physical techniques that you need to go fast in a car such as trail-braking, heel-and-toe and the racing line can be trained in the simulator. 

“You’ll sit in your own true-to-life race car seat and operate the sim using authentic equipment like the pro-grade direct drive wheel and pedals. Thanks to the three panoramic screens surrounding you, you will feel like you are in an actual race.”

Adam Rydings, co-founder of leveltap, added: “Since opening leveltap our own racing sims have proved very popular, but Century Sim’s amazing and sophisticated technology takes it to a different level.

“If you want to experience what racing is really like, without spending a fortune and having to worry about crashing then this is definitely the way to do it.”
