Liverpool’s newest tourist attraction – the £200,000 waterfront floating aqua park called Adventure Dock Co – has secured funding to train its new team just days ahead of its launch.
Located in Duke’s Dock, close to ACC Liverpool, Adventure Dock Co is an “adrenaline-fuelled”, 92-metre inflatable aqua park which will include free-fall slides – some reaching heights of almost 4 metres.
Made up of more than 50 joined-up inflatable obstacles, including the Tire Run, Ninja Jump and Dragon Tail, Adventure Dock is billed as the must-visit attraction in Liverpool this summer.
Now the venture has secured £4,000 in funding to help deliver bespoke training for its brand-new team ahead of the opening on Saturday, May 5.
Having recruited a team of 15 that will manage the facility, it has been granted the money by the Employment and Skills Team at Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. It will be used further train staff in customer service skills, handling complaints and knowledge about Liverpool tourism, to enhance the overall visitor experience.
All team members have previous water experience and qualifications including the pool/beach lifeguard qualification, first aid training and safeguarding certificate.
Tim Woodhead, creator of The Adventure Dock, said: “We were looking for enthusiastic individuals to help us open Adventure Dock next month and we are over the moon to have some great people now on board.
“Finding people with the quite niche qualifications can be very difficult but Liverpool is teaming with talent and we easily found some strong candidates that will be joining us as team leaders and aqua guides this month.
The Adventure Dock team will now undertake three days of training with local trainer Katy Moussaada, of Katy Moussaada Training.
Adventure Dock will be opening to the public on May 5 and will operate throughout the summer months until October 28. Tickets start from £20 or £18 for groups of four or more.
