£3m Albert’s Schloss restaurant and bar opens this week in a former gas showroom in Liverpool city centre, creating 200 jobs. Tony McDonough reports
Albert’s Schloss Liverpool will open its doors on Bold Street in the city centre at 9am on Friday, December 2.
Costing £3m and creating 200 jobs, Albert’s Schloss is described as a “Bavarian palace inspired by the bohemian spirit”. First announced in the summer, it joins the brand’s other venues in Manchester and Birmingham.
Its Cook Haus and Bier Palace are located in Radiant House at the bottom of Bold Street. The premises previously housed a gas showroom and an organic food market and cafe. It has been empty since 2019.
Named in honour of Queen Victoria’s husband Prince Albert, Albert’s Schloss is being opened by hospitality group Mission Mars. The company already operates Albert’s Schenke in Hanover Street in Liverpool.
It will offer Alpine-inspired dishes as well as live entertainment. The “seven days of showtime” kick off on Mondays with Back to Mein featuring special guest DJs playing their personal record collection.
This is followed by Tuesdays with Bertie’s Band showcasing a musical exploration of artisanal beats and vibes.
Midweek on Wednesdays will see Albert’s Schloss Kunst Kabaret in collaboration with Monkey 47 to present “extreme and flamboyant live performances from the cabaret underworld”.
Thursdays will present another signature showtime with Baby Grand Slam featuring one stage, two duelling pianists and requests from the audience.
Fridays will see Friday Frölich! with haus band and interactive artists; continued with Pleasure Palace on Saturdays. Finishing on Sundays, the Sunday service will feature haus band, rotating DJs and Cook Haus roasts.
Opening seven days a week from 9am, Albert’s Schloss Liverpool will be serving up breakfast until 12pm daily. Breakfast menu includes signature freshly haus-baked Kroissant Royale with sweet slow cooked onions, gouda, Burford Brown fried egg, crispy shallots and chives.
Another haus special is the Pancake Haus with a choice of a savoury maple bacon plus Burford Brown egg, or a vanilla berries and cream. The site will also be home to Haus of Schloss which is a drinking and dining space with room for up to 14 guests.
