Work on a £4m retail development close to Liverpool FC in Anfield is set to begin this autumn with a number of leading brands already being lined up as tenants. Tony McDonough reports
Developer Priority Space is already lining up well known retail brands to take space at a new £4m development next to Liverpool FC’s Anfield stadium.
Council planners have this week given the go-ahead to the 15,200 sq ft project that will see nine retail units in the shadow of the Kop stand. Co-op, Heron Frozen Foods (part of B&M), Subway and Papa John’s Pizza are already being lined up as tenants.
There is also likely to be a beauty parlour and tanning studio at the site as well as a 33-space car park including four accessible spaces plus 12 cycle spaces.
Once Priority Space has appointed a construction partner, work on the development, on a 0.75 acre plot between Venmore Street and Walton Breck Road, is expected to start in September this year. It will be due for completion in July 2024.
This scheme is part of the wider Anfield Regeneration Project which is being led by Liverpool City Council, Your Housing Group, Keepmoat Homes and Liverpool Football Club.

Sheffield-based Priority Space was set up by entrepreneurs Adam Richardson and Lee Buchanan in 2012. It delivers commercial property regeneration schemes across the UK.
Chair of Liverpool City Council’s planning committee, Cllr Tony Concepcion, added: “This is a welcome development bringing new life and jobs into the area.”
