Entrepreneurs James Winters and Rob Edwards have invested £500,000 to open a second hotel in north Liverpool following the success of their first venture.

Their business, Edwards Winters Developments, transformed The Phoenix Hotel in Kirkdale from an abandoned building to a luxury hotel. It proved popular with football supporters and traveling businesspeople.

It has also become home to post-match recordings of Liverpool FC fan podcast The Anfield Wrap. And musician Willow Smith, daughter of Hollywood legend Will Smith, booked out the entire property for her recent visit to Liverpool.

Now the pair have opened a second site, The Phoenix Pods, on Vauxhall Road, offering 32 rooms just a few minutes outside the city centre. With rooms from £36 per night the duo says the hotel offers “affordable luxury”.

James Winters said: “The ethos of The Phoenix Hotel is, and will always be, affordable luxury. The Phoenix Pods are no different.

“We provide guests the highest standard of accommodation while ensuring our prices remain honest and competitive inside the city centre.

“The Phoenix Pods are situated in an ideal location for all visitors to Liverpool; party-goers, football fans, business guests and those who want to experience our famous, world-renowned culture.

“We are also excited to host guests from across the world for Eurovision in 2023. You can reach all parts of the city centre on foot while having a luxury room to come home to with first-class service.

“We are proud to be adding to the heritage of Liverpool city centre and providing our services to the millions of visitors each year.”
