Sefton Park Palm House is gearing up for a grand fundraising dinner and art auction on Saturday, May 9.
From 7pm, supporters and their guests will descend on the Victorian glasshouse’s ‘Gardener’s Alms’ event so named to raise vital funds to ensure that its unique international plant collection continues to flourish.
Director of the Palm House Moira Leonard said:
“As a Preservation Trust we generate income, which funds an events programme that offers something for everyone and helps maintain this iconic jewel of Sefton Park.
“The Palm House is a glorious venue for corporate and private celebrations – especially weddings. The City Council provides some services but we now need to fund our own specialist gardeners, which is a must given our magnificent collection of plants.”
After enjoying a glass of fizz, diners will be treated to a three course meal devised by Chapman Holmes and a sale of donated art auctioned by a long-term Friend of the Palm House, BBC Radio Merseyside’s Roger Phillips. There will also be live music, dancing and other entertainment throughout the evening.
Moira added:
“Your Palm House really does need you! So do come, or treat your clients and colleagues to enjoy an evening surrounded in botanic bliss and bask in the warm glow knowing that you are making a difference.”
The Gardener’s Alms will take place on Saturday, May 9 at 7.30pm. Tickets cost £50 per person – tables seat ten people. Tickets can be purchased from the Palm House.
