Accountancy firm MHA Moore and Smalley is relocating its Liverpool city centre base in a move that could see staff numbers more than double. Tony McDonough reports
Accountancy firm MHA Moore and Smalley could see its Liverpool team almost double in size after moving to larger city centre offices.
The practice is moving its 12-strong Liverpool team to a 1,200 sq ft office suite at the Exchange Station building on Tithebarn Street. They will be relocating from their current base at 20 Chapel Street.
Andrew Matthews, partner at the Liverpool office says the new space will give the firm the capacity to accommodate up to 30 people. He added: “Since we opened an office in the city in 2018, we have seen a rapid expansion of our client base in Liverpool and the wider Merseyside region.
“Having outgrown our offices at Chapel Street, we’re thrilled to have secured this new base at the stunning Exchange Station building in the heart of the city’s business district. It offers us a highly flexible space to suit modern post-pandemic working practices and will serve us well as we help our clients plan for the future.”
MHA Moore and Smalley was established in Preston in 1892. It now has 26 partners and employs more than 300 people with other bases in Southport, Manchester, Blackpool, East Midlands, Kendal and Lancaster.
It offers a full range of services across audit, accountancy, advisory and special projects. Its client base in Merseyside includes owner-managed businesses, manufacturers, construction firms, education providers and not-for-profit organisations. They include the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic and Nugent Care.
Located in the heart of Liverpool’s central business district, Exchange Station offers 193,000 sq ft of office space within the former Victorian railway station originally built in 1888 and closed in 1977. Having originally been redeveloped into offices in 1986 it has undergone a multi-million-pound refurbishment in recent years.
