Sports nutrition venture Applied Nutrition has announced the £12m acquisition of US-based sports nutrition manufacturer Nutrablend Group.
Financed by existing cash resources at Knowsley-based Applied Nutrition, this deal includes the trade and majority of the assets of Nutrablend, including a manufacturing and warehouse facility in Buffalo, New York.
And in a trading update to the stock exchange on Monday, Applied Nutrition has also upgraded its revenues forecast for the 12 months to July 31, 2026, to £148m from the previous figure of £140m.
Founded in 2014 by Kirkby-born Tom Ryder, the business produces a range of pre-work out supplements, protein powders, vitamins, protein waters and other wellness and fitness products.
In late October 2024 the firm entered the London Stock Exchange in a £350m flotation. In November 2025 it revealed it had broken through the £100m revenue barrier for the first time.
In early March LBN revealed the company had started work on a new 84,000 sq ft global distribution centre and company headquarters in Knowsley. This will increase the company’s total operational footprint to over 204,000 sq ft.
In the latest update it said trading in the current financial year to date “remains strong” with “continued momentum across the group”.
Tom Ryder, who is chief executive of the business, said: “The acquisition of a US manufacturing site significantly strengthens our ability to support ongoing growth in the region and provides us with the ability to expand our North American offering.
“Importantly, it allows us to launch new products at the same pace as we do in the UK, improving our responsiveness to consumer and market demand and reinforcing a clear competitive advantage for Applied.”
