A team at banking giant Barclays in Wavertree has raised more than £1,300 for The Papercup Project which supports rough sleepers in Liverpool.

The team held a fun day to raise money for charity, to help with their weekly outreach work, providing food, hot drinks, clothes and support to the homeless.

Barclays Team leader, Jo Black said: “We had been keen to raise funds to support homelessness in Liverpool, and previously had some staff who went out on the streets of Liverpool to support people.

“We recognised that there were lots of smaller independent charities just starting out that needed support too. We chose to support The Papercup Project as Michelle who runs it is passionate about what she was trying to achieve.

“We felt our support would really give them the initial boost they needed to continue reaching out to local people to provide the right help.”

A total of £1,300.58p was raised by the team, which will pay for stocks needed to directly benefit the homeless. Founder of The Papercup Project, Michelle Langan added: “The money they raised will be used to buy snacks and drinks, which are gratefully accepted by our homeless friends. The team have been brilliant, and have a real passion to help those less fortunate.”
