CPLTraining Group introduced its scheme in 2014 with an aim of nurturing local talent and building a sustainable recruitment process. Tony McDonough reports.
Wirral-based CPL Training Group is hailing the success of its apprenticeship scheme after seeing 11 trainees secure permanent jobs with the business this year.
CPL, which has its headquarters in Birkenhead, introduced its scheme in 2014.
With an aim of nurturing local talent and building a sustainable recruitment process, 21 apprentices have successfully completed the initiative in those two years.
With more than 150 employees and several departments, CPL is a leading training and software provider in the licensed hospitality sector.
As a result, a wide range of apprenticeships are available for young individuals.
This year, three apprentices gained a Level 3 in software and web development, and six completed a Level 2 in business administration.
The two remaining employees achieved a Level 3 in customer service and a Level 3 in digital marketing.
One of the young people, Calum Towers, recently completed his customer service apprenticeship.
He said: “My apprenticeship has been extremely useful. Perhaps the most important aspect is the skills you develop through hands-on experience; skills you simply cannot gain in a classroom.
“Throughout my apprenticeship, I was treated as an integral and valued part of an active team. It encouraged me to learn and develop at every opportunity.”
Daniel Davies, chief executive of CPL, added: “CPL Training Group is proud to be part of the Merseyside community, so naturally, we are strongly committed to recruiting local talent.
“Our apprenticeship scheme has become vital in delivering this commitment. As well as giving young individuals the chance to gain hands-on experience, it also allows us to build a sustainable future.
“The latest graduates are a testament to the hard work we’ve put in. We’re excited by what they can achieve within their full-time roles.”
