A brewery based in Manchester unveils plans to create a new hotel close to Southport town centre. Andrew Brown reports
Joseph Holt Brewery has unveiled plans to create a brand new hotel in Southport.
Hotels by Holts is a growing initiative by the Manchester-based brewery, which already runs hotels in Warrington, Knutsford, Chorlton, the Northern Quarter in Manchester, Prestwich, Belmont, Glossop and Moston.
Joseph Holt Brewery has now submitted a planning application to Sefton Council to change the use of part of the first floor and second floor of The Imperial pub at 38 Albert Road, close to Hesketh Park and a short walk from Southport town centre, from residential to hotel use.
The facility would provide 17 hotel rooms, including the installation of six dormers, two each to the side and front elevations. The design of the new hotel is being led by Design306.
Brewery JD Wetherspoon has recently been granted planning permission to create 30 new hotel rooms above its Sir Henry Segrave pub at 93-97 Lord Street in Southport.
