Merseyside law firm Brown Turner Ross (BTR) has strengthened its private client department with the appointments of Thomas Rimmington and Matthew Skeels as directors.

With offices in Liverpool and Southport, the 130-year-old practice says the promotions add to the existing team of directors which comprises specialists in property, employment law and family law.

Now head of the firm’s private client department, Thomas joined BTR in 2018, while Matthew has been a core part of the private client team since 2016. The pair specialise in wills and trusts creation, estate and tax planning, lasting and ordinary powers of attorney, court of protection work and asset protection.

Thomas is also a full member of STEP, the society of trust and estate practitioners which adds an extra dimension to his expertise.

Sam Bushell, managing director of BTR, said: “Thomas and Matthew have done exemplary work in our private client department. Their dedication in helping the people that their work supports, along with their attention to detail and professionalism will be invaluable in shaping the future of the firm as directors.”

The firm has also added to its ranks by appointing Tracy Jones as practice manager. Tracy joins from international firm, Trowers & Hamlins Solicitors, where she ran the Manchester office for the last two years.

The addition of Tracy to the firm has been hugely beneficial to the company,” added Sam. “Her considerable and diverse experience is helping her excel in this varied and important role.”
