Voting is underway for businesses to decide on whether Warrington should have a Business Improvement District (BID) for the town centre.

To help any businesses that might be unsure, a series of BID briefing sessions has been set up to help, inform and answer any questions with one taking place this Friday, March 9, from 12-1pm at the Golden Square Management Suite.

The briefing sessions are being run by the Warrington BID Business Team headed by Dawn Smyth, manager of Primark, Warrington.

Setting up a BID empowers businesses to undertake activities, projects and services that will make a town centre more economically vibrant, safer, cleaner and greener.

More than 200 city and town centres across the UK have chosen to implement successful BIDs since 2005. Local very successful examples of BID’s that are making an active, visible impact include those in Liverpool, Manchester, Chester, Southport and Birkenhead.

Further information and the proposal can be obtained from www.warringtonbid.co.uk

Dawn Smyth, chair of Warrington BID Team, saidThe vote represents an exciting opportunity to empower businesses and create a more vibrant and diverse shopping experience for all, from independent traders to large scale retail organisations.

“We should all benefit from increased visitors in the town. I sincerely believe that it will make a huge difference to our town centre through us working together to improve marketing, events, transport, cleansing and security.
