Entrepreneur Karl Jacobie acquired domiciliary care services provider Care at Home Group with a mission to raise standards after seeing his mum treated so badly by another provider. Tony McDonough reports
Care at Home Group will provide domiciliary care services to St Helens residents after securing a contract with St Helens Council through a selective bid process.
It means Warrington-based Care at Home has now extended its footprint across the region. The business, which has been trading for more than 30 years, already provides similar services in Wirral and Cheshire.
Chief executive Karl Jacobie bought Care at Home with a will to transform the home care industry and set a benchmark in quality care. He was appalled by the “lax and shoddy” care given to his own mum.
His belief is that the care level is only as good as the individual team member team. He aims to ensure staff are well rewarded and professionally trained.

“Carers and healthcare staff do an amazing job and offer a bit of their heart to their clients,” said Karl. “They look after some of the most vulnerable people in our communities and I believe that they deserve recognition for the work that they do.
“By raising our game in terms of training, ongoing career support and our innovative rewards package our staff are happier, and that positivity passes on to our clients.
“My team knows that my motto is that we must be prepared to go the extra mile to help our clients smile, and if they achieve that every day, we’ve done a good job.”
