Sefton Park Palm House is set to welcome the renowned Glastonbury born singer-songwriter Emily Portman on Friday, June 19.
As a singer, writer and concertina player, Portman is fast becoming a main ambassador of the British folk scene and has already won two BBC Folk Awards – while continuing to receive high acclaim for her ‘harmony-rich narratives and originality.’
Moira Leonard Director of Sefton Park Palm House said:
“We are really excited for Emily’s performance here at our beautiful venue. Throughout the evening the Palm House will be transformed into a captivating musical arena, whereby Emily together with her audio ensemble will perform an assortment of original folk songs.
“As Emily’s show is a joint promotion with a new Liverpool based collective Dogs Four Astronomy, it is set to be a big hit. Tickets are selling fast so we highly recommend that you secure your tickets soon so that you don’t miss out on a brilliant performance amidst our unique surroundings.”
Emily is now launching her latest album, Coracle, which her first fully self-penned release that offers an eclectic mix of classic folk combined with contemporary pop elements. She performs live with the talented Lucy Farrell (viola) and Rachel Newton (harp) – collectively the three create euphonious harmonies and rhythmic melodies.
Moira added:
“As a venue that offers a truly diverse array of events, it’s great to be able to showcase a variety of interesting talent to the public. By hosting such events, this actively helps to withhold our prominence as a visitor attraction and ultimately sustain the future of our iconic venue.”
