Liverpool mechanical and electrical engineering group A&B reports 12% rise in revenues to £59.9m and offers upbeat message on future prospects. Tony McDonough reports
Liverpool mechanical and electrical engineering group A&B says it has a “bright future” amid a rise in annual sales and pre-tax profits.
Based in Old Swan, A&B comprises a trading business – A&B Engineering (Mechanical Services Division) and a holding company A&B Engineering (MEP). A&B Engineering (Electrical Services Division) is a third separate entity that effectively operates as part of the group.
A&B, which employs more than 250 people, has been in existence since the 1950s and in recent times has worked in multiple high profile construction projects in the North West including the £36m Spine office development in Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter.
A&B Engineering (Mechanical Services Division) has just filed its annual accounts for the 12 months to February 28, 2025. They show a more than 12% rise in revenue to £59.9m and a small rise in pre-tax profits to £3.6m. Dividends totalled almost £2.5m.
The directors told LBN they expect the current financial year’s figures to be slightly down on 2025 due to delays caused by the Building Safety Act and planning process. However, they expect the following year to show record revenues and profits.

“The group’s optimism is very high,” they said in the report. “Having secured the level of sales as indicated we feel we are in a favourable position to continue our growth and achieve our profits in line with our forward-looking business plan.
“Geographically the group is well placed in a busy region with many long-term investment projects in our pipeline. These will keep us busy for a number of years. We believe we have a bright future.”
In the first quarter of this year the group is expected to start work on three Manchester projects – Mayfield, Boddingtons and Sparkle Street, which will have a combined value of £35m.
