Liverpool’s Epic Apart-Hotel has announced its support for south Liverpool’s Betterdays Homes domestic violence charity.
Set up by Cynthia Monteverde, Betterdays offers support for mothers and children who are survivors of domestic violence. Betterdays has 10 bedrooms, and provide re-housing, education and employment, as well as classes for coping with the aftermath of domestic violence, parenting skills, self-esteem and confidence building.
The co-owners of Epic, Simon and Fiona Beer, were so inspired by the charity’s work that they felt moved to donate brand new furniture for the Betterdays house in Wavertree.
Cynthia Monteverde said:
“Simon and Fiona have adopted us and have made a great impact on the women’s living conditions here at Betterdays. They are just awesome.
“Because we are an independent charity we have no funding, so we rely strictly on donations from the public. We have been so fortunate to have met Simon and Fiona.
“They have donated beds and all the bedding for the home, as well as a brand new leather sofa for our reception area. Epic have been instrumental in saving several thousands of pounds which keep our doors open.”
Simon Beer added:
“When we met Cynthia for the first time we were just taken aback by her passion and enthusiasm for the project, we felt compelled to help in some small way.
“At the same time hearing first hand about the plight that women and children in our own city have to deal with was hard to digest.
“It’s encouraging that there are charities out there like Betterdays helping and supporting women and children in distress. We were moved as a family to support other families in need.”
