Be the face of Liverpool’s grace

In the run up the Liverpool’s celebration of it’s maritime history, with the arrival of the three Cunard Queens in May, Liverpudlians will have the chance to take part in this memorable event.

Over the May Bank Holiday weekend, technical experts The Colour Project will present “Amazing Graces”; an art projection to explore the spirit of Liverpool.

Every evening, from 10pm, this commission for One Magnificent City, will project a “Sea of Faces” onto Liverpool’s Three Graces, with organisers searching for anyone who wants their face to be part of this unique project.

The arts organisation Hope Street Ltd are working as partners with The Colour Project to hunt down faces that represent the spirit of Liverpool, with this “Sea of Faces” forming an essential part of the show.

Three special mini photo shoots have been organised to give people a chance to turn up, explain why they think Liverpool is a magnificent city, and then pose for a photo.

These sessions in a pop-up photo booth will take place:

  •  Thursday 5 March, 3pm to 6.30pm, Met Quarter, 35 Whitechapel, Liverpool L1 6DA
  • Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March, midday to 4pm, Museum of Liverpool, Pier Head, Liverpool Waterfront, Liverpool L3 1DG

Alternatively, people can take a head and shoulders picture of themselves and upload it to http://www.onemagnificentcity.co.uk/.

Montserrat Gili, Creative Director at Hope Street:

“This promises to be a once in a lifetime event that will show off the city in a magnificent light!

“We want as many people as possible to come forward and get involved and be in with the opportunity of gracing one of the Three Graces!”

Assistant Mayor and Cabinet Member for Leisure, Tourism and Events, Councillor Wendy Simon, said:

“There is already a huge amount of buzz around the May bank holiday weekend and it’s gearing up to be a historic event.

“We know that hundreds of thousands of people are going to descend on the region to get a glimpse of one, or maybe all, of the Cunard Queens sitting majestically on the River Mersey and we wanted to make the most of that audience.

“Amazing Graces is a wonderful way to entertain the crowds each evening. Not only will the projections be visually stunning, but the story they tell will really engage with everyone and quite literally shine a light on our heritage and links with Cunard.

“For members of the public to have the chance to be part of the show and have their faces projected on to one of the most famous waterfronts in the world is amazing and I’m sure the organisers will be overrun with people who want to be part of this history-making weekend.”
