Describing Liverpool as a ‘hotbed of business’ global freight forwarder PFE Express is opening its first base in the city. Tony McDonough reports
Global freight forwarding company PFE Express has opened its first office in Liverpool, describing the city as “a hotbed of business”.
Founded in 1984, PFE employs 120 people across the UK and 220 across Asia and provides logistics services its clients. It has signed a five-year lease for 1,323 sq ft of office space, at £15 per sq ft, in Yorkshire House in Chapel Street in Liverpool’s commercial district.
It beefs up the company’s North West operation and adds to its existing operation in Manchester. Tom Ryan, commercial manager for PFE, said: “As our business continues to grow and our network enhances, now is the perfect time to expand.
“After highlighting Liverpool as a hotbed of business, our new office at Yorkshire House has been set up to support our growing number of customers based in the North and our current customer base.
“We have set the office up to also support our teams across the globe and whilst we are the main commercial hub for the group, our operations team here in Liverpool bring a new dimension to the team.
“The team is very energetic and are already working well to provide solutions to our customers, we are looking forward to growing here in Liverpool.”
The deal is the latest successful letting at Yorkshire House for Millfield Estates, the Bolton-based owner of the building. In January Millfield secured two lettings to professional services firms at the site.
Paul Dobson, property director for Millfield, added: “We are excited to complete the letting to PFE Express, our first since the relaxation of lockdown. It is reassuring to see demand for high quality office space return.
“Tenants looking to move to Yorkshire House can still take advantage of the property’s prime city centre location, with PFE Express’ letting coming off the back of the completion of the subdivision and refurbishment of the full second floor to provide smaller suites in a post-pandemic world.”
Also recently refurbished, the second floor (rear) offering 2,009 sq ft and the larger 3,316 sq ft first floor offices remain available to lease. Millfield Estates were represented by Worthington Owen and CBRE in this transaction.
