Jen Perry set up Room Forty in 2016 as a mobile afternoon tea parlour, later adding a bakery school that has taught more than 500 people to bake bread, cakes and biscuits. Tony McDonough reports
Afternoon tea business celebrate Room Forty is celebrating an award win and five years in business.
Founded by Jen Perry, Room Forty was set up in 2016 as a mobile afternoon tea parlour setting up in customers’ homes or venues, dressing the room in 1930s-style and serving traditional, homemade afternoon teas to guests on fine vintage china.
It established its baking school that same year delivering classes across the region and has taught more than 500 people to bake bread, cakes and biscuits. Jen makes and bakes everything for her afternoon teas herself from her 5-Star rated kitchen in Woolston, Warrington.
Now the business has been named Mobile Baking Company of the Year at the Manchester & North West Prestige Awards 2020/21. The accolade adds to the impressive roster of awards accumulated by Room Forty since it began.
Said Jen: “It is lovely to have received this award, especially just prior to Room Forty’s fifth birthday. I really can’t believe that my little business is five years old. I’m so lucky that it has been a success and that I’m able to do the job I love.
“It is all down to the support of my wonderful customers of course who have been even more fabulous during lockdown when I started doing boxed afternoon tea deliveries.”
The Manchester & North West Prestige Awards 2020/21 cover the entire North West region and are judged following a five-month period of scrutiny by a team of judges. The awards are sponsored by CorporateLiveWire.
