Merseyside based law firm Kirwans has pledged to support Macmillan as part of a significant fundraising campaign.
All of this month, in exchange for a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support Kirwans solicitors will offer their expert services to individuals and couples who wish to draft a basic will entirely for free. The recommended level of donations are:
- £70 for a basic will
- £135 for a basic joint will.
The entirety of every donation will go direction to Macmillan Cancer Support.
Staff at Kirwans launched its new partnership with the UK charity by holding a coffee morning at its offices in Hoghton Street, Southport. The firm also has offices in Wirral and Liverpool. Macmillan is renowned for its fundraising coffee mornings, which includes the annual “World’s Biggest Coffee Morning” which takes place on Friday 26th September 2014. Last year, the event raised a record-breaking £20.5 million for people affected by cancer.
Solicitor Claire Hamilton of Kirwans said:
“The wonderful work of Macmillan nurses and their other specialist staff and volunteers is well known. They support people affected by cancer in their hour of need, not just locally but across the UK. Macmillan is a charity that we know has helped several of our clients. It is therefore a charity we are keen to support by raising funds through offering free legal services. All we ask in return is a donation to Macmillan.”
Gillian Wilson, Macmillan Fundraising Manager for Merseyside and Cheshire, added:
“By waiving their fees Kirwans is helping people affected by cancer to take back control of their lives. I would urge anyone considering making a will to help Macmillan’s work by taking advantage of this offer.”
