Krol Corlett breaks ground on £6m care home in Maghull for Parkhaven Trust

Knowsley construction firm Krol Corlett will build a 36-bed care home in Maghull after winning a £6m contract.

Located in the grounds of Parkhaven Trust’s estate, this 20,000 sq ft development, which will provide specialist nursing care, includes 13 car parking spaces and sensory gardens within the wider 36-acre estate on Liverpool Road South.

Designed by Condy Lofthouse, the building will be of traditional brick and block build on an insulated pre-cast concrete slab, with timber truss roof. Bedrooms have ensuite facilities and a range of digital technologies to enhance service user and staff experience.

“This is a very sensitive build, given that there are three operational facilities on the estate, and we’re proud to have been selected,” said Jack Halewood, construction manager at Krol.

Preparatory work has now started on site with the full build scheduled to complete in mid-autumn 2026. Krol Corlett’s team has worked on multiple care home developments across the region, including recently at Raby Hall for Wirral Autistic Society.

Kim Crowe, chief executive at Parkhaven Trust, added: “We needed a contractor with a track record in our sector and, as importantly, an understanding of our particular needs as an operational site providing sensitive care.

“Krol Corlett’s construction management plan takes great effort to accommodate our operational needs and we’re pleased to have them on board.

“This is a replacement for the building that we currently occupy on Deyes Lane and will provide state-of-the-art facilities for our service users and staff.”

Parkhaven Trust has provided care services on its estate on Liverpool Road South since 1888 and operates three other care facilities from the site – Parkhaven Court, the Willow Centre and The Beeches.
