Lunts Heath Rise will be a new Miller Homes development in Widnes

Miller Homes will build 328 new homes in Liverpool city region, 66 of them classed as affordable, after buying a 42-acre site.

Known as Lunts Heath Rise, the development of Lunts Heath Road in Widnes will see the construction of 12 one-bedroom, 39 two-bedroom, 165 three-bedroom, 101 four-bedroom and 11 five-bedroom properties.

Affordable homes are typically offered for sale or rent at no more than 80% of the local market rate. Miller will also contribute more than £1.2m in section 106 payments. These will fund open land, play spaces and main road access.

More than £150,000 to be contributed towards the open space and recreations areas, £875,000 for highway improvements and £250,000 for 12-month bus passes for all new residents.

Work is expected to start on site early in 2024 and the first homes will go on sale in the spring, with the show home and sales centre being established along with first occupations in early summer. Halton Council approved the plans earlier in 2023.

David Brackley, regional operations director at Miller Homes, said: “Lunts Heath Rise will complement the friendly and welcoming atmosphere that already exists in Widnes and bring yet more opportunities to the area.

“We look forward to creating a new, well designed sustainable neighbourhood, whilst supporting the local community that already exists here.”
