The eRedbook, an electronic version of the health record given to all parents, supported by Liverpool Community Health NHS Trust, has been recognised at a national awards ceremony as one of the best online innovations in public services.
Liverpool Community Health NHS Trust’s eRedbook project was runner up in the ‘Best Digital Innovation in Public Services’ category at the Nominet Internet Awards 2014.
The awards recognise the very best in innovation for UK-based online initiatives and their contribution to ‘making the internet a force for good’.
The e-Redbook is an electronic version of the paper Red Book, a Personal Child Health Record given to all parents at the birth of their baby, which enables parents to manage their child’s personal health records online.
Over the past year, Liverpool Community Health has been supporting the development of the e-Redbook system by encouraging parents in Liverpool and Sefton to test the new, free online health tool.
Developed by Year Zero, part of the Technology Strategy Board’s dallas programme, the eRedbook uses technology developed by e-health software provider Sitekit and is endorsed by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
Jane Banks, Year Zero Lead for Liverpool Community Health NHS Trust, said:
“We’re absolutely delighted that the eRedbook project has been recognised by the Nominet Internet Awards. The e-Redbook is a really exciting new health tool which has the potential to revolutionise how parents, health visitors, GPs, and other health professionals work together to improve the health of children and families.
“As a Trust we are very proud to be embracing new online technologies such as the e-Redbook. I would encourage any parents or carers with babies or toddlers in Liverpool or Sefton to consider signing up if they haven’t already.”
The Trust currently has almost 300 local families signed up and using the eRedbook, and over the coming weeks will be working closely with parents and health visitors to continue to test and refine the system for wider use.
