An architecture firm based in Liverpool has secured a contract to work on a major city centre regeneration scheme
Liverpool-based architects Studio RBA have secured work on the regeneration of a 10-acre site in Stoke city centre.
The firm has been appointed by developer Nimrod Holdings for a major mixed-use scheme at the Spode Pottery Works, subject to planning permission. It comprises 109 homes in seven former pottery buildings, 8,000 square feet of creative workspace and more than 3,000 square feet of leisure space.
“Stoke is full of lovely industrial architecture that lends itself to sensitive restoration and re-use and there are few opportunities as fine as the Spode works,” said Adam Morgan, architect director at Studio RBA.
“We aim to allow the buildings’ features to speak for themselves. It’s a great palette to work with: stone, iron, brick and timber of enduring quality. This will be a truly regenerative project and is of a scale that will encourage additional investment and job creation.”

The plans represent the further major redevelopment of the historic Elenora Street site. Thy have been brought forward in partnership with Stoke-on-Trent City Council. Studio RBA has worked on the project from inception and was responsible for submitting the planning application for the development.
Mark Begg, managing director of Nimrod Holdings, said: “Generations of local families enjoyed skilled manufacturing employment at Spode and, with Studio RBA’s help, we aim to re-cast the buildings for the next generation.”
