Liverpool businesswoman named as ambassador for local homeless charity

Kristina Metcalf, head of business development at property developer Luxor Group, has been appointed to the role by Teardrops and will represent the charity across the Liverpool city region.

As part of Kristina’s role, she will be devising new fundraising ideas and organising events to raise awareness of Teardrops’ work in the local community.

Teardrops is a non-profitable organisation set up to support the homeless in St Helens, Halton and other surrounding areas in the North West of England.

Teardrops helps support 4 hostels that are located in St Helens, as well as helping to assist a night café and street outreach service four nights a week.

They also work in affiliation with many schools and regularly run workshops for pupils to attend.

To date, the charity has supported hundreds of people, identified during outreach activities, and provided rucksacks containing supplies such as toothbrushes and hats to those who need them.

Luxor Group is the Merseyside property developer behind the regeneration of the former Tyrers department store and most recently Claughton House in St Helens.

Earlier this year, Luxor Group alongside Lloyds Bank, handed over a £1000 cheque to help the charity with their ambition of opening a night shelter.

Kristina Metcalf, head of business development at Luxor Group, says: “I am honoured to become a Teardrops ambassador. Both I and the team at Teardrops are passionate about tackling homelessness in the North West and finding a real, long-term solution.

“I am looking forward to raising awareness, inspiring others to get involved and hosting events which bring the whole community together to support this amazing charity.

Kristina will be hosting ‘Under The Stars’ a charity night in support of Teardrops. The evening will be held at the Mercure Hotel in St Helens on Friday September 17 2017.
