Liverpool law firm High Street Solicitors (HSS) is seeking applications from law students for new training contracts at its city centre base.

A week ago the practice announced it was looking to create 80 new jobs, more than doubling its current 75-strong workforce. HSS has relocated its headquarters from the Cotton Exchange in Old Hall Street to 1 Tithebarn.

It specialises in a number of areas of law including data breach, employers liability, housing disrepair, Japanese knotweed, medical negligence, mis-sold investments, mis-sold pensions and public liability cases.

There are two training contract positions available and law students are encouraged to apply by sending their CV to Sarah Kearney, head of litigation and operations and the training principle at the firm – sarah.Kearny@hssolicitors.co.uk

She will review the applications and invite candidates to start the application process in April. Successful candidates will undertake both non contentious and contentious work throughout the contract which starts in August.

The training contract’s length of time is dependent upon the candidate’s previous relevant experience. If they have 12 months’ experience or more, the duration will be 18 months. If the candidate has no experience, or non-related experience, it will be two years.

Sarah Kearney said: “Our trainee solicitors are much-valued members of staff and as the training principle of the firm, it’s my priority to nurture and mentor the candidates so that they feel confident in each of the departments they work in.

“High Street Solicitors is a fast-growing firm with plenty of opportunities and we’ve just recently moved into our new offices which have the facilities needed for our staff to excel, develop and grow along with the company.

“As a grade A solicitor, I’ll be personally overseeing each department our trainee solicitors work in, liaising with department heads with litigation experience, and setting our candidates up for a prosperous and very successful career in law.”

Amelia Beyaslian, who is currently undertaking her training contract at HSS, added: “I was offered a training contract at my previous firm and as happy and grateful as I was, I soon realised that the firm was not heading in the direction I wanted for my career progression.

“I was lucky enough to have my contract transferred to High Street Solicitors where, upon showing my keen interest in GDPR, they allowed me to work in the GDPR data breach department.

“I have learnt so much in the short period of time I have been here and I see myself growing into the solicitor that I have always dreamt of being. I love coming into work and performing my daily duties and cannot wait to see what the future holds for me at HSS.”
