Two Liverpool law firms, Hill Dickinson and DWF, have both made the top 30 for UK companies with the best family-friendly policies. Tony McDonough reports
Both Hill Dickinson and DWF, based yards away from each other in Liverpool, are in the top 30 UK companies for family-friendly policies.
Working Families, a national charity for working parents and carers, compiled the list of employers from across the public, private, and third sectors. Each organisation is scored on four key areas around how well they support both parents and carers.
Both Hill Dickinson and DWF are based in St Paul’s Square in Liverpool city centre. This is the third time Hill Dickinson has received national recognition for its positive approach to flexible and agile working. It has focused on the recruitment and retention of employees with young families or carer responsibilities.
DWF has also made recent changes to its approach to parents and carers at the firm. These have focused on maternity, paternity, adoption and shared parental leave. Discounted nursery fees are also part of the improvements.

Hill Dickinson chief executive Peter Jackson said: “We have always keenly appreciated that a crucial factor in our success as a law firm in a crowded market is how well we treat the people we employ.
“To be recognised by Working Families as one of the country’s leading family-friendly employers highlights the effort and rewards of instilling a people-first culture and the importance of that in helping create a fair and inclusive workplace.”
