Wine entrepreneur Katherine Jones capped off a year of growth for her business after scooping two top awards.

Katherine, founder of Liverpool-based ThinK Wine Group, has won two silver awards in the international ‘Glass of Bubbly’ Awards 2021 held in London. It is a world-renowned annual awards which is judged by 50 top wine professionals from around the globe.

In the past year ThinK has added three new people to its team and is seeking to take at least one other person. 2021 was also the year it broke into the US market for the first time.

Its Prosecco and Pinot Grigio Sparkling Rose have proved popular with wine connoisseurs in California, New York, New Jersey and Florida. ThinK has also teamed up with Thomas Ridley in a distribution deal.

In the Glass of Bubbly Awards here were 17 categories and ThinK won silver in two of them: ‘First Date’ and ‘Spring Fling’. The criteria for First Date was defined by ‘the perfect wine to accompany that first date. The criteria for the ‘Spring Fling’ category was ‘a floral driven wine that expresses flowers from cherry blossom to rose petals.

Katherine said: “This year has been full of surprises and incredible opportunities for ThinK. We celebrated our second birthday this summer with the launch of our ThinK Miniatures, and I have been overwhelmed with the response we have had since launching in America.”

Katherine saw a gap in the market for a “healthier wine option” which led her to create the ThinK Wine Group in the summer of 2019. After multiple trips to Italy and a lot of fine tuning, a vegan, organic, reduced calorie Prosecco and Pinot Grigio Sparkling Rose were created and ready for sale. It now has a large number of online followers.
