A 40-bed luxury residential care home has opened in Wirral backed by a £1.9m funding package from NatWest and will see the creation of 50 new jobs.
Offering hotel-style, long stay accommodation for the elderly, Old Garden Care Home, overlooks the Royal Liverpool Golf Club and is a joint venture between Damon Hart and Miles Cockram who own and operate The Anchorage Care Home in Hoylake.
The purpose-built facility took two years to complete and includes the full refurbishment of an existing Old Garden cottage which dates back to the 1700s, as well as the construction of a three-storey purpose built-wing with 40 en-suite bedrooms to the rear.
Facilities include a restaurant and bar area, hair and beauty salon and heated swimming pool. The care home can accommodate elderly residents from retirement age and offers care and support up to end of life, thanks to a team of qualified nursing and care assistants.
Around 50 new full and part-time jobs have been created, including care staff, front of house roles, administrative support and hospitality and catering staff. Health experts including nutritionists and physical activity professionals will also be recruited.
Damon Hart, owner of Old Garden Care, said: “We are bringing a new kind of residential facility to Hoylake, which is styled on luxury hotel accommodation, offering residents onsite facilities which create an exciting and engaging living space, as well as providing care facilities for more dependent residents.
“We had the idea to launch Old Garden Care three years ago and NatWest has been instrumental in allowing us to take it from concept to reality.”
Gary Swift, relationship director at NatWest, said: “We have supported Damon and Miles for several years now and believe there is great growth potential in their business model, which is providing an essential care service and creating new jobs locally.”
