Specialist consultancy The Momentum Group is being brought on board by owners of Liverpool’s Metquarter to assist in the ongoing revival of the upmarket mall.

Metquarter opened in Whitechapel in 2006, on the former site of the city’s main post office. It’s premium brands were initially a hit with shoppers but the opening of the £1bn Liverpool One complex in 2008, made life tougher for the centre.

However, owners Queensberry has injected a new lease of life into the 130,000 sq ft Metquarter over the past 12 months. A refurbishment has seen a greater focus on leisure with new tenants including boutique cinema operator Everyman.

Now Queensberry has hired The Momentum Group to support its “retail delivery”, providing project management for retailers keen to establish units within the Metquarter’s refurbished space.

Led by co-founder and director, Chris Renshaw, Momentum is a full-service property delivery company delivering advisory, construction, management and maintenance services to clients across the UK. It has already worked with Grosvenor at Liverpool One for several years.

Jon Munce, development director at Queensberry, said ‘We have known Chris and the team at The Momentum Group for a number of years and have worked with them in the past.

“We are delighted that we are able to work with them in the retail delivery for Metquarter. Having someone on the ground being able to support the process from pre-leasing to store opening is hugely beneficial for us.”

Work will start with Metquarter imminently with new retailers and restaurants poised to be part of the vision and offer for the scheme. Other recent tenant wins include children’s department store Kids Cavern and popular Liverpool high-end fashion outlet, Cricket, which moved from its original Cavern Walks home.

Mr Renshaw added: “We have worked with the Queensberry team previously and to have the chance to work with them again to showcase our high standard of work in the Liverpool city region is a great opportunity for us.

“The Momentum Group has been operating for almost two years and to have this level of commitment and support from our clients clearly demonstrates the quality of service and delivery we provide.”
