Cocktail bar brand Tonight Josephine to open in Liverpool city centre this autumn offering a capacity for up to 400 people. Tony McDonough reports
A new cocktail bar will open in Hanover Street in Liverpool on Friday, October 21.
Tonight Josephine will cover an almost 8,000 sq ft of space at 87-89 Hanover Street. It will be split across the ground floor, basement and lower basement. It will offer a capacity of up to 400 people.
Adventure Bar Group, owned by Nightcap PLC, is opening the venue. It already operates sister sites in London, including Waterloo, Shoreditch and Clapham. There is also one in Birmingham with Bristol set to launch at the end of September.
Named after Joséphine de Beauharnais, Tonight Josephine embodies the empress’s “well-behaved women don’t make history” mantra. Revellers can expect a “glittering cocktail menu, late-night adventures, and a jam-packed schedule of extravagant events”.

The neon-lit venue will offer bottomless brunches as well as drag entertainment, bottomless cocktails, wild games, and sing-a-long sessions.
Tom Kidd, Adventure Bar Group founder, said “With the success of the Tonight Josephine brand already in London and Birmingham, we are thrilled to be bringing it to Hanover Street.
“Liverpool is such an incredible city, and known for its party antics; we feel it is the perfect location for Josephine’s first foray into the north.”
