Bruntwood Works is offering a “sneak peek” of the £3m transformation of The Plaza office building in Liverpool with one image showing a terrace overlooking St Paul’s Square.

This work on the former Littlewoods headquarters is part of its £200m Pioneer programme. This aims to transform workspaces across its commercial estate. The Plaza will be the first Pioneer building in Liverpool.

It has revealed the design for the third floor that will deliver more than 8,800 sq ft of leased office space. More than two-thirds of the space is already let and it includes 14 individual serviced office suites, Each will feature a private balcony.

On the third floor there will also be meeting rooms, phone booths and a communal lounge. This has been inspired by a mix of retro style and modern design. The lounge featured a 1960s-inspired piano,

It will provide a hub for collaboration and co-working and double as an event space for customers and the community to use. It will also benefit from an external terrace overlooking St Paul’s Square.

Wellbeing is central to the project. This will be delivered through investment in bespoke lighting and quiet study spaces to enhance the working environment and boost productivity. Planting and biophilic design will be integrated to boost oxygen levels.

Ciara Keeling, chief executive of Bruntwood Works, said: “We’re incredibly excited to unveil the pioneering workspace and communal lounge at the heart of the Plaza’s transformation.

“As our first Pioneer scheme in the city, the Plaza will provide the perfect blend of amenity, wellbeing, biophilia, technology, art and sustainability. It is influenced by the bold, sophisticated and vibrant style of the 1960s, reflecting the building’s heritage but with a contemporary twist.”

Earlier this year, Bruntwood Works unveiled The Plaza’s new entrance which includes a lounge, reception and independent coffee bar by Bold Street Coffee, which is now open on the ground floor.

The Plaza’s fitness suite is also now complete, and is home to 142 bike spaces, 18 showers and a new wellness studio to host fitness classes. A restaurant and bar is due to open later this year.
