A centre for small businesses in Birkenhead is looking to attract digital and creative entrepreneurs offering office space in garden sheds.
Employing an concept that has already proved successful at Liverpool’s Baltic Creative, Pacific Road has created ‘Shed Street’, a row of garden sheds, providing office space for up to three people.
Close to the Wirral waterfront and Hamilton Square, Pacific Road is run by Wirral Chamber of Commerce and has undergone a £900,000 renovation.
Sheds at Pacific Road is designed to encourage creative collaboration between its residents while providing networking opportunities and consultation schemes.
Accommodation is available on a range of flexible payment plans and there is also an pen-plan mezzanine which offers more desk spaces.
The communal kitchen area provides bottomless tea and coffee; there are comfy breakout spaces for meetings and socialising and facilities such as wi-fi, printing and photocopying included in the price.
Paula Basnett, chief executive of Wirral Chamber, said: “I believe that we’ve providing something unique for Wirral’s creatives – something that will go beyond a traditional business centre, to become a cultural and social hive of activity.
“The best co-working spaces we’ve seen can blur the lines between work and play and that is definitely our aspiration here.
“We want to level the playing field for Wirral’s creatives so that they have the benefits currently enjoyed at successful co-working spaces in cities on our doorstep and across the country.”
