Social housing provider has taken over Centre 56 in Kirkdale which provides childcare, information and support for women and children who have suffered, or are at risk of suffering domestic abuse
Social housing provider Regenda has taken over a closure-threatened nursery in north Liverpool.
Centre 56, in Kirkdale, provides childcare, information and support for women and children who have suffered, or are at risk of suffering domestic abuse.
Regenda decided to bring the nursery into the group after becoming aware that it was facing financial difficulty and closure.
Being a part of the Group, Centre 56 will benefit from greater support and stability. The nursery will contribute towards Regenda’s plans for growth in care and support provision, as well as broadening the services it offers to support disadvantaged communities in Liverpool.
Michael Birkett, chief executive of the Regenda Group, said: “We have stepped in to prevent this wonderful nursery and vital support unit from closing down. However, this is only the start and it is really important that we improve revenue, ensuring the nursery is financially stable for years to come.
“As a forward-thinking business, we are committed to delivering care and support services, and have expanded our group to help do this effectively, in areas where it is most needed.”
Maria O’Brien of Centre 56 added: “The services we provide are so important to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities. By joining the Regenda Group, we are providing a more stable support service to those people.”
