Sefton Hospitality Ltd has been set up to oversee the £3m transformation of Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre and is seeking a managing director offering a salary of up to £60,000 a year. Andrew Brown reports
Sefton Council has formed a new company to oversee its Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre and other facilities in the borough and is seeking a managing director, offering a salary of up to £60,000 a year.
The position, for MD of Sefton Hospitality Ltd, is based at Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre (CLAC), set in the heart of Crosby Coastal Park in Waterloo, but will ultimately work across the borough of Sefton.
Whoever secures the role will set up a new hospitality business, starting at Crosby, and provide strategic leadership and direction for the business. They will report to the chair of the board of directors.
Sefton Hospitality Ltd company has been created by Sefton Council as it redevelops CLAC in a £3.1m scheme, with funding from the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority. Plans include a 2,200 sq ft conference and events space to be constructed on an area of hardstanding to the west of the building.
An additional 38 beds across eight rooms would be accommodated within a ‘bunk barn’, constructed on the roof of the building to provide an extra 2,000 sq ft of sleeping space. Sefton Council will provide a working capital loan of £500,000 to support CLAC launch and first 18 months of operation.
The centre is located at the entrance to Crosby Coastal Park and adjacent to Anthony Gormley’s Another Place installation and has for many years provided sports and gym facilities for Sefton residents and visitors.
The new managing director will be responsible for developing and implementing a business plan for Sefton Hospitality. In the first six months they will agree and manage the fit-out of the new hospitality offer at CLAC, as well as recruiting the new hospitality team to support development of the offer and future growth of the business.
The new MD will be asked to “maintain a customer focus with a relentless pursuit of excellent outcomes, provide motivational leadership and set standards that will ensure clarity of vision and delivery expectations”.
They will be expected to have a proven track record of delivering results in either casual dining, managed pub or hospitality, accommodation or retail sector, bringing industry relationships that will support the growth and success of the business.
The vision is for the company to be an employer of choice in the sector, and the successful candidate will exemplify and embed that aspect of the organisation’s culture. They will also have the ability to bring innovation and creative ideas to the company, both to maximise the opportunity at CLAC and to enable the sustainable, profitable growth of the business.
