Chicken wing restaurant brand Wingstop UK signs up for 3,000 sq ft of space in Liverpool city centre and is due to open in the spring. Tony McDonough reports
Liverpool ONE has secured its first food and drink letting of 2025 with Wingstop UK agreeing to take a 3,000 sq ft unit.
Specialising in chicken wings and other dishes, Wingstop has been expanding across the UK, opening 18 sites in 2024. Its new Liverpool venue, with space for 50 diners, is due to open in the spring.
It will serve Wingstop’s range of wings, tenders, burgers, and sides, all hand sauced-and-tossed in a choice of ten flavours. The signing follows a period of significant growth for the brand.
Chris Sherriff, chief executive at Wingstop UK, said: “Wingstop UK has expanded significantly over the last year, and our new Liverpool ONE restaurant will be a crucial continuation of that growth.
“We’re excited to bring our iconic wing flavours to a new city, and with its leading mix of F&B operators, Liverpool ONE is the perfect home.”
In what will be Liverpool ONE’s biggest year for openings since it launched in 2008, Wingstop UK will join Sephora, TFG London and Uniqlo among multiple new additions at Liverpool ONE’s this year.
In January the retail and leisure complex said Christmas 2024 was its most successful festive season since 2019 with big rises in both footfall and sales. In mid-December LBN revealed property giant Landsec has completed its £490m purchase of a majority stake in Liverpool ONE.
Rob Deacon, asset management director at Liverpool ONE, added: “Having celebrated a phenomenal festive period, we are now looking ahead to the year of firsts that will be 2025.
“Wingstop’s city debut is a great example of the sustained demand among leading brands to share in Liverpool ONE’s continued success.”
