Work is set to resume on a £21m residential development at Liverpool’s Princes Dock which was halted in December due to the collapse of original contractor Forrest Construction.

Vermont Construction will start working on Plaza 1821, which comprises 16 storeys and 105 one and two-bedroom apartments, in the next few days after an announcement on Tuesday by joint developers Peel L&P and The Regenda Group.

Plaza 1821, a PRS (Private Rented Sector) project, is being built alongside two other residential schemes next to the old dock wall at Princes Dock, which is part of Peel Group’s £5bn Liverpool Waters development.

The other two schemes are Your Housing Group’s £55m Hive City Docks and a 34-storey residential tower by Moda Living known as the Lexington, valued at £82m.

Work began on Plaza 1821 in January 2018 but ground to a halt when main contractor Forrest Construction collapsed into administration. It’s collapse also caused problem in other Liverpool building projects.
