Brand marketing specialist Wild Thang is hailing a “truly spectacular” night at the Liverpool Chamber Innovation in Business Awards where it scooped two accolades.

At the same event in 2022, Bootle-based Wild Thang won the Business of the Year Award. At St George’s Hall this month it topped that achievement by winning the Sustainable Business of the Year and International Business of the Year accolades.

Managing director Andrew Dwerryhouse, who founded the business 27 years ago with a Prince’s Trust grant, spoke of his pride at the success calling it “one of the biggest moments in the company’s history”.

“After winning Liverpool Chamber Business of the Year in 2022 we did not think it could get any better. So to come away with Sustainability and International Business of the Year as a team we are now in dreamland and have surpassed all our expectations,” he added.

Before the pandemic Wild Thang took the decision to invest more than £2m to expand and upgrade its manufacturing facility. When COVID hit the firm decided to push on with the project.

Since this was completed it has invested hundreds of thousands of pounds extra in manufacturing equipment as well as adding to its team and opening up operations in the Republic of Ireland and the US.

In October LBN revealed that Wild Thang has installed 290 solar panels on the roof of its headquarters, close to Liverpool’s northern docklands. They will provide around 80% of its energy needs.

Andrew hailed the 27 years of hard work, innovation, development, research and creativity that had led them to the big moment at the chamber awards.

“As always, these awards are accepted by the full team. This recognition really means the world to us and it’s proof that our commitment to excellence has truly paid off.

“In regard to the sustainability award, this was the award we were hoping to come away with due to our huge company commitment to sustainability over the last year.

“With the introduction of the sustainability pledge at the start of the year and the recent completion of our solar panel installation at Wild Thang HQ we have been committing to sustainability as a team as well as financially.

“The International Award was a fantastic award to receive because it gives us great recognition for our efforts to grow Wild Thang internationally in Dublin, Ireland and most recently New Jersey, US, which we are incredibly excited about.”

Andrew also passed on his congratulations to all the other finalists and winners at the awards, some of whom are Wild Thang clients.

“To be recognised by both an expert panel of business people and a public vote is the perfect vote of confidence,” he added.

“That will help further create momentum to support our continued aspirations to become an industry leading organisation.”
