Legacie Developments will deliver 656 apartments at The Gateway in Leeds Street

Legacie Developments has started construction work on a £200m residential project that will deliver 656 apartments in four towers on the edge of Liverpool city centre.

The Gateway is located in Leeds Street, close to the city’s commercial district. It will offer one, two and three-bedroom apartments. It is a similar scale Legacie’s Parliament Square development on the edge of the Baltic Triangle.

First unveiled in August, its features include a garden spa, complete with an infrared sauna, swimming pool, ice bath, oxygen chamber, and experience showers.

There will also be two gyms, two resident lounges complete with a cinema room, landscaped gardens, coffee shop and convenience store and other commercial amenities.

John Morley, chief executive of Legacie, said: “The site has lay vacant for far too long, and I am pleased that we have stepped forward with a scheme that will be a catalyst for further regeneration.”

International sales agent, RWinvest, has once again partnered with Legacie to promote the scheme. Director Michael Gledhill, added: “The Gateway will be a stunning addition to Liverpool’s buoyant housing offer.

“With world-class facilities on-site, it will form a key part of the emerging Northern Quarter and help attract further investment as we continue to see huge demand for luxury living in the city.”

Sefton Central Labour MP and shadow minister Bill Esterson visited to help Legacie break ground on the development.

He said: “Building new homes and creating jobs and training opportunities are the foundations for a stronger, more prosperous economy.

“Legacie and RWinvest is a powerful partnership and working at pace to deliver quality accommodation not just in Liverpool but across the UK.”

Earlier this month Legacie published images showing how its £25m One Park Lane development on the edge of Liverpool city centre will look when complete.

It is making progress on the scheme as it nears the 16th storey – and highest point – of construction. Located on the corner of Park Lane and Liver Street it will offer a mix of 90 one, two and three-bedroom apartments.
