LJLA has given no reason for his sudden departure scheduled for the end of June and has said the process of finding his replacement will begin in “due course”. Tony McDonough reports

Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) chief executive Andrew Cornish has quit his role and will leave at the end of June.

LJLA has give no reason for his sudden departure and has said the process of finding his replacement will begin in “due course”.

Mr Cornish joined the airport in in September 2014 and has overseen a successful period, with annual passenger numbers rising from 4m to almost 5m. 

Significant investments have been made over the past two years in improved passenger facilities and customer service standards.

LJLA says survey results showing that Liverpool is now delivering some of the “highest levels of customer satisfaction against many other comparable UK and European airports”.

In a statement, the airport said: “Andrew leaves the business in a sound position and the airport company would like to thank him for his contribution to the business and wishes him well in his next venture.”
