Applied Nutrition to open Liverpool retail outlet
Merseyside sports nutrition venture Applied Nutrition, which has just undergone a £350m stock market flotation, will open a pop-up store in Liverpool this weekend. Tony McDonough reports
Applied Nutrition will open its first-ever pop-up store in Liverpool ONE on Saturday, December 7.
This will showcase the Knowsley venture’s range of pre-work out supplements, protein powders, vitamins, protein waters and other wellness and fitness products. It will be delivered with fashion brand Yelir and promises product giveaways and sampling.
Founded in 2014 by Kirkby-born Tom Ryder, the company has established itself as one of the fastest-growing privately owned sports nutrition brands in Europe. Its ABE workout products are stocked in hundreds UK gyms.
Operating from a 100,000 sq ft manufacturing facility in Knowsley, Applied Nutrition exports its products to more than 60 countries. It partners with football clubs, including Glasgow Rangers and Fulham, as well as MMA, basketball and rugby professionals.
In the last few weeks the business, which is loved by celebrities including Coleen Rooney and UFC star Paddy ‘The Baddy’ Pimblett, has gone public in a £350m stock market flotation.

This pop-up in Paradise Street, which will remain open until mid-January, is the first physical retail space the company has ever taken over, further expanding its footprint in the UK and globally.
The move into physical retail is part of the company’s ongoing strategy to connect with consumers while offering them the opportunity to experience the brand’s premium products firsthand and get advice from a specialist fitness team.
There will be an exclusive invitation only opening event at 6pm on Friday, December 6, at the store, where shoppers will get the chance to spot local celebrities and sports people who will be there to celebrate the opening in style.
Thomas Ryder, chief execution of Applied Nutrition, said: “We couldn’t be more excited to invite our loyal customers and fans to experience the brand in a completely new way.
“We feel these pop up store opportunities in certain locations are a great way to attract new consumers to the brand and to engage with our existing loyal customer base.”
