Liverpool is frequently the backdrop for blockbuster movies and TV shows but few have caused more excitement than the Warner Bros’ The Batman starring Robert Pattinson.

During filming parts of Liverpool were transformed into Gotham City. In particular, the Royal Liver Building became the setting for the Gotham City Police Department. In one scene the caped crusader is seen stood on one of the balconies.

Now the tourist attraction at the Royal Liver, RLB360, has seen a rush of visitors keen to recreate the scene since the film was released on March 4. Fans are coming from all over the world to stand in the same spot and bookings have surged 200%.

RLB360 operations manager Chris Devaney said: “It was a great privilege to have The Batman filmed here. The building is such a big part of Liverpool’s identity, and to see it appear along with other Liverpool locations on the big screen is great for the city.

“We have experienced a huge increase in tour sales compared to our normal numbers for comparative months. Our attraction really is a great opportunity for Batman fans to feel like their favourite superhero.”

Once again named as the Small Visitor Attraction of the Year at the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards, RLB360 is a tourist hotspot that includes a state-of-the-art digital projection show inside the historic clock tower plus an outdoor 360-degree view of the city and beyond.

The Royal Liver Building appears alongside places such as St George’s Hall and the Walker Art Gallery others in the film, and is likely to return in future outings for Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight.
