Biotech entrepreneur Sam Westgate is expanding her Liverpool city region business and is now growing her client base across the world.

Microbiological contract testing provider, Perfectus Biomed, has increased the volume of space it occupies at the Techspace One building at science and innovation campuses, Sci-Tech Daresbury.

Founder and chief executive Ms Westgate moved her venture to the facility in 2013 and it now occupies 1,237 sq ft of laboratory space and 1,394 sq ft of office space.

Perfectus supports companies by providing both standard and customised microbiology testing methods. It works with clients across the UK, Europe, US, Australia and South Africa in the wound care, cosmetics, dental and disinfectant sectors.

Ms Westgate said: “As an international provider, it’s very important to us that we have the facilities and connectivity to engage regularly in face-to-face meetings with our clients.

“Sci-Tech Daresbury is so well placed and its location is ideal in that it allows both domestic and international customers to access our office easily, whether travelling in from Manchester airport or London, meaning that we’re able to continue to build on those important relationships.”

Sci-Tech Daresbury is a private-public joint-venture between developer Langtree, the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) and Halton Council.

“As a small company, our base at Sci-Tech Daresbury has enabled us to purpose-build our own lab and office space to suit our needs,” she added.

“The decision to expand our workspace on campus is a reflection of the continued growth we are experiencing, ensuring that our team is based in a world-leading location to deliver the best results for our clients.”
