Boots UK to raise flag-ship store in refurbished Clayton Square
A recent multi-million pound deal has revealed that the Clayton Square shopping mall is not too big for its Boots, as the pharmacy giant’s flag-ship store, previously located opposite St John’s Market, is to move in to the refurbished mall this November.
The project began in July, when the owner of the mall, Infrared Capital Partners announced an expensive facelift to combat difficulties faced by the shopping centre in previous years.
At 55,000 sq ft it will be the city’s largest Boots store.
Infrared will also be spending £2million on refurbishments to the adjacent St John’s Market
Pat Quigley, store manager at Boots UK, said:
“We are very excited about the prospects that this new store will bring, providing the residents of Liverpool with access to our wide range of health and beauty products and services, as well as great value promotions and offers.”
And Infrared director, Chris Huxtable, added:
“We are incredibly pleased that Boots have decided to expand their existing Clayton Square unit to create a flagship store.
“This shows the importance of Clayton Square as a practical and convenient centre and we are sure that the vast number of shoppers and commuters will find the new bigger and better Boots both useful and exciting.”
Removal of the internal escalators will provide clear views from Central Station to St Johns Shopping Centre.
The previous Boots entrance that opens on Church Street is to be closed to make way for three new vacant units, while the former Disney store located on a busy corner of Church Street is to be transformed in to a Morrison’s supermarket; their first retail base in Liverpool’s city centre.
