Maritime investigation, troubleshooting and survey business Brookes Bell has opened new hi-tech laboratory facilities in Birkenhead, just across the river from its Liverpool HQ. Tony McDonough reports
Liverpool technical and scientific consultancy Brookes Bell converted two industrial units in Birkenhead into hi-tech fuel testing laboratories.
Founded in Liverpool in 1903, Brookes Bell investigates, surveys, troubleshoots and advises on a broad range of marine and energy matters. It has operations in London, Glasgow, Shangai, Hong Kong and Singapore.
Those matters include casualty investigation, litigation support, salvage and wreck removal, design support, scientific cargo expertise, superyacht services, bespoke software products and energy and marine loss adjusting.
Brookes Bell tasked Triton Construction with the refurbishment and internal fit-out of two industrial units at Junction One Business Park in Birkenhead. They will house facilities for fuel testing, paint analysis and non-destructive testing to expand the specialist services offered to clients. It also needed more space for equipment storage.
Triton Construction was appointed to the job following competitive tender, helped by its specialist knowledge in high technology laboratory fit out. The project was completed within a an 18-week timeframe.
North West regional director, Chris Quinn, said, “We were able to offer a very bespoke fit out solution, from M&E and flooring right through to the very specialist laboratory furnishings able to withstand rigorous testing methods. Our remit also covered external repairs, lighting, security measures and new signage.”
