Charity of the Year appoints four new trustees

Charity of the Year, Alternative Futures Group (AFG), whose head office is on Merseyside, has appointed four new trustees.

Experienced healthcare professional Mary Burrows MBE; Daniel Chaffer, a chartered accountant at BBC North; government advisor Michael Parkinson CBE and Mike Clarke who’s a business development specialist, all join the board as the charity continues to grow across the North West.

AFG supports more than 1,200 people every year with learning disabilities and mental health needs, providing around the clock support within the community, in peoples own homes or in one of eight treatment and recovery centres across Merseyside, Cheshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester.

Neil Campbell, CEO, Alternative Futures Group said:

“All four demonstrated a deep understanding of the challenges facing providers of support for people with mental health needs and learning disabilities.”

“Their commitment to what we are trying to achieve for the people we support, our staff and for the charity itself was also clear and shone through.”

“Each offers a different yet complementary area of expertise including governance, finance and business development and I’m sure will make a vital contribution to the existing team of trustees.”
