Work is almost complete on a new £5.2m residential development in Wirral that boasts panoramic views across the River Mersey.

Mersey View Residence comprises 67 one and two-bedroom apartments and is located on Canning Street, close to Hamilton Square railway station. The building was previously known as Birchen House and was once a tax office for HMRC, while it also retains parts of the original Grade-II listed Pier Hotel, dating back to the 1880s.

It has now been transformed by Crossfield Exclusive Developments, which acquired the site for £2.1m in 2018, and two thirds of all apartments have already been sold prior to the works completing.

An Open Day event is being held to showcase the remainder of the available properties on Saturday, May 11, from 10am to 2pm.

Crossfield Exclusive Developments is a joint venture between Crossfield Group and Exclusive Investments.

David Ayem, director at Exclusive Investments, said: “The transformation of this building is truly remarkable and we are grateful to our construction partners at Crossfield Group for delivering such a high-quality refurbishment.

Many of the apartments have already been purchased off-plan ahead of completion and we are looking forward to showcasing the development to the wider market now that all works are complete, and the apartments are ready to occupy.

The response from potential buyers, investors and our neighbours has been extremely positive and we are confident this will become a popular residence and a positive addition to the local community in the heart of Birkenhead.”
